Julie Berggren-Bruce
Board Member
Julie is an experienced educational leader currently serving as Principal of Gilroy High School, a role she began in 2024. She brings eight years of administrative experience from her previous position as Assistant Principal at Christopher High School (2016-2024) and holds a Master's degree in Education, Administration & Supervision from San Jose State University (2015). A graduate of Leadership Gilroy's Class of 2024, Julie continues to develop her leadership skills and community connections. She is extremely proud of the Leadership Gilroy mission and the hard work of the Class of 2024 in launching the Healing Paws program.
Her career in Gilroy Unified began in 2001, where she served in multiple capacities, including teacher, activities director, athletic director, and softball coach through 2016. This diverse experience provided her with a comprehensive understanding of school operations from various perspectives, enriching her current leadership approach. Originally from Sacramento County and a graduate of Chico State University, Julie has been a dedicated member of the Gilroy community since 2001, with deep roots that reflect her commitment to serving local students and families.
Outside of her professional responsibilities, Julie enjoys cheering for the San Francisco Giants, reading, tending to her garden, and exploring new destinations with her husband in their 5th wheel. Her balanced approach to life and work demonstrates the same thoughtful leadership she brings to education.
