Rich Velis

Board Vice-President

Rich Velis is a proud son of California. Having grown up in the Peninsula and Southern California areas before finding a community to call home and settling in the Gilroy area in 2001. With over two decades of residency in the area, Rich has become an integral part of the community, dedicating his time and energy to various initiatives that positively impact the community. He chose this community as it was a wonderful place to raise a family. Outside of work and community service, Rich's love for family and quality time are apparent to everyone he meets as he enjoys spending time with his fiancé and their two grandsons. 

As a member of the Leadership Gilroy Class of 2024, Rich played a key role in launching the Healing Paws program, which has made a significant impact on the lives of many in the community. 

Rich's passion for fostering youth development has led him to coach at various levels, including JV Softball at Gilroy High School, Gilroy Little League softball, and Little League T-ball in Los Banos. He has also been a dedicated volunteer at St. Mary's School in Gilroy, where he has been able to make a positive impact on the lives of students and their families.

In addition to his community work, Rich has a successful professional career as a General Manager at Makplate Inc in Gilroy. While the manufacturing processes remain the same, he enjoys the fast-paced and constantly evolving environment that keeps him actively engaged. He has also previously worked as a contractor with Cal-Fire in Aviation support since 2017.

His dedication to all he does and his enthusiasm make him an exemplary individual who is making a lasting impact on the lives of those around him.
